Rafael’s was great. They go the distance in giving you a real experience. Straight edge neck trim and take their time with the cut. A quality haircut at a classy place for a reasonable price.

Rafaels Barbershop Vintage is the by far the Best Barbershop in New York City. I moved to the East Village back in 2013 because growing up in New York City, the East Village maintains that residential, NYC neighborhood culture. Small businesses and the neighborhood residents still operate with that personal level of integrity. There are so many Barbershops in New York City, that you get overwhelmed by the choices. However, you'll always need your hair cut - Service, reliability and consistent results is a necessity. My first year in the neighborhood, I literally tried every barber within my vicinity with great reviews. The problem I had was that they were all very good and provided great quality. What made Rafael's Barbershop stand out is summed up to one word - diligent. Diligent in the quality of my hair cut. In the 5 years I've been coming as a walk-in customer (its tough for me to schedule appointments) I've sat with each of Rafaels barber, including himself. And the outcome is always on point - never one dissatisfied result. Diligent in the service. The culture is professional and personable. From my first visit back in 2014 until today, the level of service has been exactly the same - top notch. Diligent atmosphere. His new location provides that vintage barbershop feel. They provide complimentary alcohol, tv with great music videos to watch while you wait and my personal favorite - his airy open storefront window. You have to experience getting a haircut, where you feel the breeze come through the shop and you hear the tempo of the East Village in the background. It's awesome. Rafael has done an amazing job, taking the time to create an experience his regular customers can look forward to every couple of weeks when its time to get that haircut. Give him a try and I challenge you to respond to my review if any of it is inaccurate. I'm an NYC business owner and don't have much time for anything - I'm not generous with online reviews. But Thanks to Rafael , I have one less thing to worry about. I have my cut, my beer, an amazing environment and excellent service everytime!

What a full service place. Rafael does both beard shape and straight razor. Natalia does only beard shape. I went and got the best of both worlds. Face massage was beautiful. He’s such a character!!! Great experience...

It took me a while to find a reliable barber after moving to the city, but once I found Rafael, the search was definitely over. I’ve been getting my hair cut by him for almost two years now, and I’m always impressed by his outstanding service. Rafael is meticulous in his craft, and his attention to detail is second to none. I was looking up vintage barbershops on NYC to go to and came across Rafael's Vintage Barbershop. I arrived half an hour early and Rafael told me don't worry have a seat. He offered water and even a cold one. I took the cold one after a long day. Anyway, my turn was up and he asked me what I wanted. I asked for a skin fade. He said ok how I show you something on how it would look better without a skin fade. I said ok I'm open to anything new. So he went to work and I was impressed immediately. What I loved the most about my experience was that Rafael always had an explanation on how something would look better his way. He was always open to any changes I wanted but there was no need for one. He also explained how how my haircut should connect with my beard and trimming my beard only without lining it up and let it grow natural. Everything came out perfect. Rafael is very nice, passionate with his craft and has a great sense of humor. Overall, 5/5 experience. I'll definitely come back even though I live all the way in The Bronx. It was worth the trip.
